| November 18-25, 2010 ABOUT THE CAMP Teen girls are under more pressure than ever. There are so many influences and things to think about – school, friends, parents, boys, the future, their bodies…it never stops! Schools aren’t teaching girls how to succeed at LIFE…so, the amazing women at Inspired Girls have put together this incredible week that will give girls the inside scoop on what it takes to balance their busy lives, feel great about themselves, and be successful on their own terms! The Inspired Girls International Life Camp is an annual life-changing event that takes place in the world’s most breathtaking environments. Teen girls from across the United State are invited to join Inspired Girls on an exceptional journey. The 2010 camp will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. 15 hand-picked girls will travel to Brazil to engage in eye-opening workshops, life-changing humanitarian work, servant leadership, forming new friendships, and a lot of fun! This trip is designed to position the girls who attend to succeed in every area of life. A team of doctors, psychologists, teen experts, and girls worked diligently to develop the curriculum for the camp. After the camp is over, girls return to their hometowns and apply what they’ve learned in their schools, churches, and communities. The workshops during the camp will help the girls fine tune their leadership skills and the unique opportunities the trip presents will engage them in an ongoing conversation about how they can be happy, healthy, well-adjusted girls who evolve into exceptional women. The lessons girls learn at this camp will stay with them forever - this isn't a summer camp, it's a LIFE camp! This camp is designed to empower teen girls to develop their leadership skills, increase their awareness of the global environment, educate them on the secrets to becoming a successful woman, and awaken them to their purpose. Girls finish the camp ready to create change in their communities and the world. Therefore, girls engage in fun, experiential learning workshops every day before heading out to explore Brazil. Every day, we explore the country with a different theme in mind. The workshops cover a wide range of topics: Personal Development & Leadership Relationships Money Matters Health & Fitness Beauty & Fashion Spirituality Girls leave enlightened and inspired to live boldly and succeed personally, academically, and professionally as they evolve into young women who are inspired and fabulous! Brazilian girls aren’t as fortunate as girls in America. Many of them aren’t afforded simple things like hair products, tampons, and school uniforms. A school uniform for a girl in Rio de Janeiro costs just $20 US dollars yet many of them can’t afford a uniform. The girls aren’t allowed to attend school without a uniform so many of them aren’t enrolled in school. Even if they get to attend school, they may not have school supplies and basic hygiene products. The girls who attend help Inspired Girls change that by gathering donations and hand-delivering them to the girls at the orphanage in Brazil! Camp participants connect with the girls, learn about their lives, and even teach them English! Who knew that paying attention in English class would pay off so soon? Before attending camp,girls will set an intention for developing themselves as servant leaders and the Inspired Girls staff will help fulfill that potential in a new environment. While in Brazil, the girls learn all about the culture! They learn basic Portuguese and gain an understanding of Brazilian customs, mores, and culture. We visit famous beaches, the amazing statue of Christ (pictured above), and enjoy authentic Brazilian cuisine. As the camp participants explore Brazilian culture, they gain new insights on their own culture and how it affects their identity as citizens. We use this opportunity to brainstorm new ways girls can develop themselves as international leaders and explore other cultures around the world. How could we possibly go to such a fabulous country and not have some fun? The girls who attend have amazing once in a lifetime opportunities – hang gliding, international shopping, sightseeing, great food, sports, games, and more. There isn't a dull moment at this camp! We have a blast and the girls connect with each other and make new friends along the way. |
